Intercultural integration strategies: how to move forward in the management of diversity?

Abstract

In recent decades, the focus of European migration and asylum policy on issues related to border control and labor market protection, along with national policies, has consistently relegated the integration of third-country nationals to a secondary position. The European Commission and the Council of Europe have continually emphasized that inclusion is crucial for individuals arriving in Europe and for local communities. They argue that reciprocal inclusion is essential for consolidating the well-being of our societies and the stability of our economies. This work presents a critical and proactive analysis, drawing on the shared aspects found in the most recent guidelines from the Commission and the Council, and the implementation outlined in the new national Strategic Framework. The goal is to articulate and implement a policy of integration and inclusion that provides responses to the changes, challenges, and opportunities arising in the new European and Spanish social and migratory context.
