Abstract

Data networks are part of the development of communication technologies. It is important to know the behavior of the data that is transmitted through the communication channels. Monitoring the traffic of a network becomes a task of administration and computer security. These tasks allow us to detect atypical behaviors in network traffic, possible threats and reduce security incidents. The purpose is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information assets. This work presents the design and development of a software to monitor and analyze the traffic of a network through the integration of WinPcap libraries. The project was developed applying the evolutionary prototype model focused on a rapid design that fits the needs of the user. The test scenarios allowed evaluating the functionality of the software and measuring the efficiency of the statistical reports generated by the application. The main objective is to optimize the consumption of bandwidth and network resources.
