Abstract

In this paper, the Nostoc 106 has been taken as the test algae and the antioxidant effect of ascorbic acid in the process of killing cyanobacteria by UV-C radiation has been discussed through employing the ascorbic acid as the experimental subject. At the same time, the resistance effect of ascorbic acid on UV-C in different concentrations has been also analyzed. Under normal conditions, UV-C has a strong oxidation killing ability for Nostoc 106. When the reaction temperature is 25 degrees C, the ultraviolet light intensity is 0.5mW/cm(2) and pH is 6.8. Under the condition of 30min reaction time, the killing rate of test algae can reach 77% after 5 days. However, with the addition of ascorbic acid, the killing rate of Nostoc 106 can reach 35%. During the experiment, the ascorbic acid has a decreased effect on UV killing power.
