The article focuses on recognizing human rights of people with mental illness inadequately defined and protected in law in Iran and in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It states on the need for the laws in those countries to protect women with confirmed or suspected mental health problems from unfair and harmful approaches to evaluation and management due to patriarchal prejudices. The issue regarding the health of immigrants in the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council is also tackled.
