Abstract

Responses of grassland species secondary chemistry to elevated CO2 were variable and generation and species specific. Results obtained from pot studies were dependent on the soil type taken from community studies in the Ecotron. Plant secondary chemistry was controlled more by soil nutrient status (as the model ecosystem aged) than by elevated CO2.
