The quantitative and qualitative analysis of journalistic messages about Prehistory (n =65) released in 2010 by leading Spanish newspapers (El País and El Mundo) show a glaring predominance of news against the interpretative genres, especially the in-depth report. The often institutional sources are poor and there is a worrying homogenization of expert voices. These newspapers present this discipline connected to education, entertainment, the cohesion of the community and the economic development.
