Abstract

The article focuses on the sociological aspect of wheelchair basketball in the U.S. History outlines that sports for people with mobility impairments following World War II when the improved battlefield evacuation methods and medical technologies increased the survival rate of those who are wounded. It notes that this game tends to disrupt conventional assumptions on the ability of disabled people. It is considered as the most notable of all the disability sports that emerged this time.
