While celebrating the thirtienth anniversary of Anpocs, the author recalls the starting time of Anpocs, particularly the vicissitudes surrounding the election of its first president coming from a non-political sciences background. The relation between anthropology and the country is considered, emphasizing the historical role of the discipline in the endeavor of conceiving the nation as well as the neccesity today of reviewing such role in order to face the challenge of modernizing the relation between anthropology and the country. The author also accentuates the importnce of fronting the questions posed by both the internal colonialism and the presupposition of the unit in detriment of the complete recognition of alterities and collective actors.
