HUBUNGAN SOCIAL COMPARISON DENGAN SELF-ESTEEM PADA REMAJA PENGGUNA TIK TOK

Abstract

TikTok has many features that can be used, one of which is the posting and browsing features. This activity can be a space to present oneself and see others. By presenting yourself on social media, you will get positive responses from other people which will increase the individual's self-esteem. Also, using TikTok can enable users to carry out social comparisons. The relationship between Social Comparison and Self-esteem on social media, several studies have revealed that there is a relationship between Social Comparison and Self-esteem, but there are also several studies that do not show the full relationship. Then, not much research has examined TikTok media. Therefore, researchers are interested in studying further about the relationship between Social Comparison and Self-esteem among teenage TikTok users, especially conducting a survey of high school students aged 16-19 years. In this research, correlation is used to see the relationship between the Social Comparison variable and Self-esteem. To analyze questionnaire data, several steps are carried out, namely: Validity, Reliability and Normality Tests. The results of this research show that the higher the Social Comparison, the lower the Self-esteem of SMAI Nurul Fikri Boarding School Lembang students who use TikTok. Likewise, the lower the Social Comparison, the higher the Self-esteem of SMAI Nurul Fikri Boarding School Lembang students. Based on the normality test, our data is normally distributed. Furthermore, based on the linearity test, we can conclude that the significance value is >0.05. So, based on the results of the hypothesis analysis, it was found that there is an influence between Social Comparison and Self-esteem among SMAI Nurul FIkri Boarding School Lembang students, especially among TikTok users ABSTRAKTikTok memiliki banyak fitur yang dapat digunakan, salah satunya fitur posting dan browsing. Aktivitas ini dapat menjadi ruang untuk menampilkan dirinya dan melihat orang lain. Dengan menampilkan diri di media sosial akan mendapatkan tanggapan positif dari orang lain yang akan meningkatkan Self-esteem individu, juga dengan menggunakan TikTok dapat memungkinkan penggunanya untuk melakukan Social Comparison. Hubungan antara Social Comparison dengan Self-esteem di media sosial, beberapa penelitian mengungkapkan terdapat hubungan antara Social Comparison dengan Self-esteem namun juga ada beberapa penelitian yang tidak menunjukan hubungan secara penuh. Kemudian, belum banyak penelitian yang meneliti media TikTok. Oleh sebab itu peneliti tertarik untuk mengkaji lebih lanjut tentang bagaimana hubungan antara Social Comparison dengan Self-esteem pada remaja pengguna TikTok khususnya melakukan survey kepada siswa SMA dengan kisaran usia 16-19 tahun. Pada penelitian ini korelasi digunakan untuk melihat adanya hubungan antara variabel Social Comparison dengan Self-esteem. Untuk analisa data angket maka dilakukan beberapa langkah yaitu: Uji Validitas, Reabilitas dan uji normalitas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan semakin tinggi Social Comparison maka akan semakin rendah Self-esteem pada siswa SMAI Nurul Fikri Boarding School Lembang yang menggunakan TikTok tersebut. Begitupun sebaliknya semakin rendah Social Comparison maka akan semakin tinggi Self-esteem siswa SMAI Nurul Fikri Boarding School Lembang. Berdasarkan uji normalitas data kami berdistribusi normal. Selanjutnya berdasarkan uji linearitas kami dapat simpulkan bahwa nilai signifikansinya >0,05, maka Ho diterima dan H1 ditolak. Jadi berdasarkan hasil analisis hipotesa ditemukan bahwa adanya pengaruh antara Social Comparison dengan Self-esteem pada kalangan siswa SMAI Nurul FIkri Boarding School Lembang khususnya bagi pengguna tiktok.
