Abstract

Technical interventions in aquaculture are crucial for addressing environmental, socio-economic, and technological sustainability challenges. Nanotechnology, a rapidly advancing field, offers transformative potential in aquaculture. Nanoparticles, such as silver, iron, zinc, and carbon-based particles, improve water quality by efficiently removing contaminants. Chitosan-based nanoparticles enhance hormone delivery, improving breeding outcomes without stressing fish. Nanoparticle-enriched feeds boost growth, nutrient absorption, and immune responses while reducing pollution. Nanotechnology also offers innovative disease prevention strategies, with nanoparticles serving as alternatives to conventional antibiotics. Nanotherapeutics, nanovaccines, and nanosensors enhance drug delivery, treatment effectiveness, and stress assessment. Responsible implementation, ongoing research, and environmental considerations are essential for sustainable nanotechnology integration in aquaculture. Ultimately, the diverse applications of nanotechnology have the potential to reshape aquaculture, promoting sustainability and fish health and meeting global protein demands.
