ENZYME KINETICS.

Abstract

The chapter considers first the kinetics of single-substrate enzyme-catalysed reactions, including the Michaelis-Menten mechanism, the steady-state treatment, the properties of the Michaelis-Menten equation, and determination of the Michaelis-Menten parameters by the graphical and statistical methods. Types of inhibition, mechanisms of linear inhibition, and an analysis of inhibition experiments are discussed. Reactions with more than one substrate and effects of pH and temperature on enzymes are then examined. Deviations from Michaelis-Menten kinetics and kinetics of immobilized enzymes are finally considered.
