Abstract

In May 1986, the Association for Behavior Analysis (ABA) established a task force on the right to effective behavioral treatment. The mandate of this task force was to identify and delineate specific rights as they apply to behavioral treatment. The task force issued a report delineating six client rights. "Behavior Analysis and Treatment" provides an in-depth examination of some of the issues raised in the task force report. One area that receives a good deal of attention in this book is the behavioral analysis of targeted behaviors. Many of the authors examine how an analysis of contingencies maintaining behavior and the stimuli controlling that behavior can improve treatment efficacy. Those interested in the use of a functional analysis will find much of interest in "Behavior Analysis and Treatment." Other issues addressed in this book include examining the factors that contribute to an effective treatment environment, selecting the right treatment curriculum, making treatment decisions, coordinating the efforts of professionals, disseminating new treatment technology, and promoting generalization and transfer of treament gains.
