Abstract
Use of processing levels in descriptions of remote sensing data and data processing over the past 40 plus years has been helpful to both data producers and data users. Many variations of level definitions exist internationally, with most deriving from the early usage within the NASA and NOAA remote sensing communities. In the United States remote sensing community, the most commonly applied definitions may be found on the NASA Earth Observing System documentation (EOS, 2006).
