Abstract

The aliphatic hydrocarbons of a Cretaceous black shale horizon and its adjacent green claystone have been examined by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. In this preliminary investigation the two lithologies were not completely separated, and a unimodal series of n-alkane contaminants was recognized in the hydrocarbon distributions of the green claystone.-from Author
