Abstract

Monarch butterfly optimization with Greedy Strategy and Self-adaptive Crossover Operator (GCMBO) is used for determination of size of capacitors.By placing capacitors in radial distribution systems voltage profile is improved and the activepower loss is reduced. The capacitor locations can be found by using loss sensitivity method. The proposed two-stage approach determines the optimal capacitor sizes at less number of locations with maximum loss reduction. The results are presented with test system15-bus, 34-bus and 69-bus.
