Risk and protective factors associated with alcohol and other substance use among students attending youth correctional centres: study design and methodology

Abstract

The study was aimed at identifying the psychosocial and behavioural risk and protective factors associated with alcohol and other psychoactive substance use among high risk youth. The self-administered anonymous questionnaire was completed by a random sample of 12-to 19-year-old students attending youth socio-therapy centres (MOS) and youth correctional centres (MOW) in Poland (n = 1730). The article presents the thematic scope, research tools, information on sample and study implementation procedure.
