Abstract

Experimental data on the isolation and inheritance of factor Ag (Arrhenogenic) are given and discussed. The gene Ag has a delayed effect in carrier females that lay eggs all developing into males. The gene is inherited in mendelian fashion: arrhenogenic females transmit it to half of their all ♂ ♂ progeny, and carrier males pass it on to half of their progeny, consisting of normal and arrhenogenic females in a 1:1 ratio. Preliminary information is also given on two maleness factors isolated from two males from arrhenogenic strains and localized on the first and third autosome pairs respectively. © 1982 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
