Abstract
The objective of this research was to determine the effect of three types of physical exercise on the levels of physical activity and the profile of mood states in administrative personnel belonging to a Colombian higher education institution. This was a quasi-experimental; the sampling was non-probabilistic and convenient. The studied population was distributed in 4 groups: 1 Control and 3 experimental groups that performed: Group A: concurrent exercise, Group B: aerobic exercise and Group C: anaerobic exercise during 12 sessions with a frequency of 3 times a week. This study had 3 phases: pre-intervention phase, Intervention phase and post-intervention phase, in which the levels of physical activity and levels of sedentary lifestyle were assessed with the IPAQ and the profile of moods with the POMS. The results allow us to indicate that none of the three types of exercises significantly modified the levels of physical activity, however, the concurrent exercise decreased the levels of Depression (p=0.045) and Vigor (p= 0.013), while the exercises of aerobic and anaerobic type decreased Fatigue (p<0.05).
