Les indices de compétition en foresterie: Exemples d'utilisation, intérêts et limites

Abstract

The purpose of competition indices is to characterize the degree of competition a tree undergoes. They are produced by considering some of the dendrometric characteristics of the tree concerned and of neighbouring trees. Part I of the article briefly describes the different kinds of indices - distinguishing spatially explicit or distance-dependant indices from non-spatial or distance-independent indices. In Part II, some examples of the use of such indices, including benefits and limitations, are provided.
