Abstract

Community Service is the type of community measure most used in Spain, and it seems relevant to know if the supervision style, and particularly the respect for the Core Correctional Practice, is useful for the achievement of the aims of this sentence (obedience to the obligations of the sentence, avoiding recidivism, desistance, and resettlement). A survey has been fulfilled by 149 clients sentenced to Community service in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. Using linear regression, we have achieved partial confirmation for the hypotheses of the research, showing that two dimensions of the Core Correctional Practice (Effective use of authority, and Modelling and reinforcement) are associated with the aims of this sentence.
