Stark expresses exhortation in the sociology of religion that are as out to date as Ptolemy and Copernicus and that their work is filled with social scientific equivalents of loops in their orbits. He was mindful of the fact that many have been so well socialized into ancestor worship that will not grasp to his message and thought of him as a person who is uninterested in intellectual pursuits and unable to appreciate the classics.
