Prevention of disease in the tropics: Questions in health economics

Abstract

No major problem in the health economics of developing countries has been adequately solved; the vast majority of issues have not even been approached. In this paper, questions are raised and an agenda provided for research; there is no review of the subject. The main focus of community health in developing countries is now on an exciting and rapidly changing field. The first part of this paper is a review of what have been considered the key issues and of the types of economic questions raised by the key issue at each stage. The second part is an attempt to consolidate these issues in a systematic manner.
