Citrus limetta is an evergreen small tree belonging to the Rutaceae family. It is cultivated all over the world and is used as a fresh fruit, as a source of juice, yields essential oil, and is used as traditional medicine due to its bioactive components. The bioactive components include flavonoids, limonoids, calcium, potassium, and a low content of fat and dietary fibers. It is an important source of essential oil that ultimately finds several applications.
