Abstract

The use of energy by human beings has always been important throughout history for development. Human communities, which efficiently used energy, have progressed and developed in economics, technology, and industry. In the middle of the eighteenth century, human beings used steam energy and made concrete progress in a period, which is also known as the Industrial Revolution. After 300 years today, humanity is coping with environmental problems as the consequences of this revolution. The sustainable development strategy, which emerged in the early 1980s, is the beginning of the solutions discussed today. Then in the late 1990s, other perceptions such as climate mitigation and adaptation strategies have emerged. Currently, in the literature, the climate-resilient practices, technologies, and adaptation ways are discussed. However, no studies are published to point out the role and importance of energy among climate-resilient societies in the literature. Therefore, this book chapter aims to investigate the role of energy in climate-resilient society by giving solid and concrete examples to fill the gap in the literature. On the other hand, one of the most significant outcomes of the study is to present the facts, which prove the role of energy in climate-resilient societies and reveal the significance of launching digital energy efficiency strategies.
