Hypertension Patient Compliance Intervention on Quality of Life at Undata Palu Regional General Hospital

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition in which there is a persistent increase in blood pressure above normal limits, characterized by blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg. Considering that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is quite high and efforts to control hypertension are still lacking, it is important to make efforts to reduce the number of cases of hypertension. Based on data from the Medical Records of the Undata Palu Regional General Hospital for 2022-2023, cases of hypertension reached 465 cases. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of adherence to the quality of life of hypertensive patients who perform outpatient treatment at Undata General Hospital, Palu. Method: This research is a pre-experimental design type one group pre-test-post test with a total of 82 respondents using random sampling technique and data collection using compliance questionnaires (MMAS-8) and quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF). Result: The results of the study were obtained in the pre-test of compliance with the categories of disobedience (46.4%), moderate (41.5%), and compliance (12.1%), in the post-test with the category of disobedience (12.2%), moderate (52.4%), and obedient (35.4%). While the results of the study on the pre-test of quality of life were in the low category (46.3%), medium (15.9%), and high (37.8%), in the post-test with the low category (2.4%), moderate (19.65), and high (78.0%). The results of the relationship analysis using the Spearman Rank Correlation test obtained the value of Sig. 0.365 or <0.05, which means H0 is rejected and there is a relationship. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between medication adherence to the quality of life of hypertensive patients at the Undata General Hospital in Palu.
