Abstract

By the application of two modern concepts, a better understanding of the chemistry of gold can be achieved. In this paper graphic displays of the tendency for the metal to oxidise and for its ions to form complexes are introduced, and it is shown that they allow the observed behaviour to he viewed in a way that is not only rational but is also very simple and potentially useful. © 1974 World Gold Council.
