Brasil, junho de 2013: Classes e ideologias cruzadas

Abstract

Leaning on available data about the social composition of the events of June 2013 in Brazil, the author suggests that they might be seen simultaneously as the expression of traditional middle class grievances with several aspects of national reality and a reflex of the condition of what the author identifies as the "new proletariat": workers, mostly young, that have secured regular jobs during Lula's term as president (2003-2013) but who suffer from low pay, high turnover and poor work conditions.
