Life history studies in genera of the Cryptonemiales

Abstract

Studies of life history in genera of the Cryptonemiales have been ignored until very recently. The results of investigations of Thuretellopsis, Pikea, Schimmelmannia, Acrosymphyton, Gloiosiphonia, Halymenia and Callophyllis are presented. The occurrence of monosporangia in Cryptonemiales is discussed and the need to relate laboratory studies to field observations is stressed. © 1972 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
