Abstract

The right to education does not exist for many Brazilians who do not complete basic education. Three goals of the 2011-2020 National Plan for Education focus on youth and adult education integrated with vocational education. This paper analyzes the specificities of the teaching work in this modality of education. A literature review on the implementation of proeja allowed us to list the main problems such as the lack of teacher training and of funding and the precarious working conditions of teachers. A research on the organization of work in proeja revealed times that do not fit teachers' needs and the harsh working conditions of temporary and vulnerable teachers, which are signs of precarization and of the contradictions of public policies.
