Abstract

The author informs about 77 species of benthonic Polychaetes found in southern Somalia, South of the equator, in the mangrove swamps of Bender Mtoni (ca. 1 km N of Sar Uanle) and along the beach of Sar Uanle (0°29’48”S-42o25’30”E); eight of them: Phyllodoce capensis Day, 1960, Branchiosyllis uncinigera (Hartmann-Schroder, 1960), Glycera tesselata Grube var. minor La Greca, 1946, Rhynchospio glutaea (Ehlers, 1897), Paraspio mecznikowianus (Claparede, 1869), Cirriformia capensis (Schmarda, 1861), Pherusa laevis (Stimpson, 1856), Fabricia filamentosa Day, 1963 had never been found in the Indian Ocean. She gives also a description of a new species of Capitellidae, Scyphoproctus somalus n.sp. © 1976 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
