Abstract

Cretaceous benthic foraminifers from DSDP Leg 39, Sites 355-358, in the western South Atlantic, range in age from Albian to Maestrichtian, and indicate middle bathyal to abyssal depositional environments. Foraminifers of Maestrichtian and possibly Cam-panian age from Site 355 in the Brazil Basin, and of Maestrichtian age from Site 358 in the Argentine Basin, indicate abyssal water
