Abstract

The chapter covers briefly the history of glass and a definition of glass is attempted; the structure of glass is discussed and there are further sections covering glass melting, glass qualities (silica, borate, phosphate, homogeneous, heterogeneous and coloured glasses) glass properties, glass ceramics, glass fibres and metallic glasses.-J.M.H.
