Abstract

Cerium(IV) carboxymethylcellulose (CMC −CeIV) was found to be a highly efficient, eco-friendly and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of 2,4,6-triarylpyridine derivatives in excellent yields via one-pot multicomponent reaction of various benzaldehydes, acetophenones, and ammonium acetate under solvent-free condition. Moreover, the present protocol has the merits of easy work-up, short reaction times, and high yields. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
