Neoliberalism: Economic Crisis, Crisis of Democratic Representativeness and Strengthening of Governmentality

Abstract

Considering the acceleration of neoliberal reforms after the 2008 financial crisis and the “movement of the squares”, this article seeks to understand the relationship between neoliberalism and economic and political crises in liberal democracy. Neoliberal governmentality instrumentalises crises in order to reinforce its power device, making a transition to another regime of accumulation impossible and converting the instability into a chronic condition.
