Abstract
At NaturZoo Rheine hybrids between a male Black-winged Stilt and a female Pied Avocet occurred in three consecutive years. In this special case it is interesting to know that the Stilt had been paired up with a female partner of the same kind. We assume that the Avocet had no partner of its own kind. So the hybrids are a result of "extramarital affairs". Therefor doubts on parentship of offspring in larger bird-colonies must be considered.
