The urban transportation system (UTS) is one of the great challenges for the cities in developing countries. New alternatives should be based on finding ways to optimize the resources, to improve the results and to offer an integrated service of quality and low cost. We discuss some lessons of the UTS of Curitiba -- Brazil to propose a single UTS management public entity as a possible improvement to the transportation system in Bogotá -- Colombia.
