Abstract

This research is to develop a Mobile Learning System for teachers' further education. Even though traditional PC-based online training systems for teachers' Further Education have promoted the collaboration among teachers, schools, and experts and enhanced teachers' ongoing professional development in an effective way, the terminal learning device has been restricted to PC or tablet PC, which weakens learner's learning interest to a certain extent. Mobile learning, is a newly emerging learning style, offers learners the opportunity to learn at any time and any places. Armed with mobile devices such as smartphones and PDAs, learners can get needed information and participate in team activities directly through those devices. The system, we designed in this paper, can be synergistically worked with traditional PC-based online training system. The communication through these two kinds of systems enables teachers to overcome the limitation of space and time, and further promotes better collaboration in learning community, and eventually enhances teachers' ongoing professional development. © 2010 IEEE.
