The importance of job satisfaction for individual performance in the workplace is stressed nowadays. Thus, it is important to consider factors that affect it. The aim of the present study is to confirm if there is a relationship between the type of job (ideal/real) that an individual performs and job satisfaction depending on intrinsic or extrinsic factors. We expect to find a higher level of intrinsic satisfaction in individuals performing the job they have been trained for (ideal), and a higher level of extrinsic satisfaction in those who perform a job they have not been trained for (real). The results support our first hypothesis, but not the second. A greater control of other extrinsic factors not taken into account may change these results.
