Modes of human-computer interaction in the control of dynamicsystems are discussed, and the problem of allocating tasks betweenhuman and computer considered. Models of human performance in avariety of tasks associated with the control of dynamic systems arereviewed. These models are evaluated in the context of a designexample involving human-computer interaction in aircraftoperations. Other examples include power plants, chemical plants, and ships. © 1981, ACM.
