Abstract

Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) is commonly used to analyze and separate complex mixtures of intact proteins. It delivers a map of proteins which reflects changes in protein expression level, isoforms and post-translational modifications. In this protocol, we describe an optimized workflow with standardized sample preparation for the 2-DE to exploit all methodical and technical potentials. © Springer-Verlag 2012.
