Abstract

In the discussion and inquiry on Latin sacred inscriptions, there has to date been no systematic analysis of the gifts offered to the higher powers. The article focuses on lamps and other light-generating objects so utilized as mentioned in sacred inscriptions. The main focus centers on the questions: In what dedication practices is the donation of lamps principally attested, and how can the epigraphic observations be interpreted?
