Abstract

安静時には認知課題遂行時より大きな活動を示す脳部位がある。“デフォルト脳部位”と呼ばれるもので,主に大脳内側部に位置する前頭連合野内側部,前帯状皮質,後帯状皮質,楔前部などの部位からなる。デフォルト脳活動は“内的思考過程”に関係していると考えられており,それは言語的になされると考えられることから,デフォルト脳活動は動物にはないと考えられてきた。しかし最近の研究では,チンパンジー,サル,ラットにもデフォルト脳活動が認められ,動物にも言語を介さない原初的な内的思考過程があるのではないかとも考えられる。最近は社会性認知,社会性行動を支える社会脳に注目されているが,デフォルト脳部位と社会脳は大きくオーバーラップしていることがヒトでも動物でも示されており,デフォルト脳活動の機能的意義は,社会性認知,社会性行動に関わる内的思考を担うことにあるのではないか,と考えられている。
