Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of dissatisfaction with body image - IIC and its relation to the level of habitual physical activity - NAF adolescents in urban schools to Irati-PR; Sample: 340 female students of high school, selected randomly. Instruments: Habitual Physical Activity Questionnaire (NAHAS, 2006) and Perception Scale Body Silhouette of Childress et al. (1993). Results: 70.9% of adolescents had IIC and 72.6% are insufficiently active, however, no relationship between IIC and NAF. Overweight and underweight had 3.47 and 2.64 times more likely, respectively, to report IIC compared eutrophic. The desire to decrease body silhouette was 63.96% and 31.94% among normal weight and underweight among respectively. Conclusion: The prevalence of IIC is high and independent of NAF, which increases the risk of body dysmorphic disorder.
