Abstract

Aim: to describe the coping styles in a sample of women workers, according to their age range, level of education and work area in which they carry out their tasks. Method: descriptive research of comparative type with the participation of 380 women workers active in Colombia, to whom were applied a data form, work variables and the coping styles questionnaire. Results: high scores in coping oriented to the problem and medium to low scores in other coping styles measured, stressing that the older the age the lesser the tendency to use avoidance. Also, the higher the academic level reported, the lower the women resort to self-guilty feelings and to fantasy as a way to coping with stressful situations. The only style that is maintained constant, no matter the area where the women surveyed carry out their work, is the search of social support. Conclusion: there is evidence of differences in coping styles according to the age, the academic level and the work areas to which the women belonged. (English) [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
