Abstract

Posters are a good choice to show scientific or academic information in an informal way but of similar prestige than oral presentations. Principles for acceptance, design and presentation of health congress posters are described. Congress organization should inform about place, time, assigned area and materials of board. In addition to research works, they should offer other options such as case reports, health care models, and teaching programs. Content is the essence in cartel design. Information must be simple but with enough shape to facilitate reading. In studies, methods and, especially, results should be expanded. Lists, tables and figures are better than narrative language. Poster presenter must know instructions such as its maximum size, format and minimum content of posters. Then, cartel helps to individual discussions and relationship with other persons interested in similar experiences. ©2001 Corporación Editora Médica del Valle.
