Abstract

In the first chapter, we introduced a list of the following digital skills: operational, formal, information, communication, content creation, and strategic skills. These skills were applied to several media. In this chapter, this range of skills is further elaborated in the context of the Internet, including World Wide Web services like email, social networking, and online telephony. To investigate the list of skills applied to the Internet, we develop a number of specific skill indices for all six skills. These indices are extracted from concepts related to Internet skills that are proposed in the last decades. The diversity of these concepts originates from a wide research scope, covering studies of media and communication, technology and computing, literacy, education, and information science.
