Abstract

We propose a new reservoir simulator MUFITS for thermal compositional simulations of underground CO2storage. We test MUFITS against a benchmarking problem of CO2storage which is consistent with reservoir conditions in the Johansen formation. We also conduct a series of simulations of CO2injection using a real-scale geological model of the Johansen formation. We evaluate an optimized location of the injection well for a more complete structural trapping and reduction of potential CO2leakage out of the formation.
