Abstract

Otitis media is an inflammation of the middle ear mucosa that affects part or all of the ear. A good knowledge level will help reduce the incidence of middle ear inflammation and its sequel in children. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of knowledge of Bhayangkara members in the West Java Regional Police concerning middle ear inflammation in children. The descriptive methods along with the cross-sectional design of the online google form questionnaire. Respondents were given 16 questions regarding the inflammation of the middle ear in children. The questionnaire was completed by 289 people who met the criteria for inclusion and exclusion. The result of knowledge level showed as follows: good: 40,5% (n=166), moderate: 46,8%(n=134) and poor: 13,6%(n=39). The average score is 79,4±9,4. According to this study, Bhayangkara members in the west java regional police have a good understanding of middle ear infection in children. There is a need for more information about the definition and causes of middle ear inflammation in children.  Keywords: inflammation of the middle ear; children; knowledge level
