A New Natural Resources Degree for a New Century

Abstract

Oregon State University is offering a new interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in natural resources. The degree, which emphasizes the skills and knowledge that students need to manage natural resources, crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries and value systems. The rationale behind the new program is described, as well as the degree requirements and challenges associated with the new degree, including employability, advising depth of content, and the special concerns of students, professors, and administrators.
