Abstract

In this study, Carbon Cloth (CC) and Graphite Rod (GR) were used as electrodes in the Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) to notably reduce the COD level and produce the electricity. By varying the distance between the electrodes, electricity production will improve. Two values of distance between electrodes i.e. 40?cm and 60?cm were assessed for finding the efficiency of electricity production in the process. Both electrodes showed COD reduction: 82 % for CC and 76% for GR, and power outputs of 530±18?mW m-2 and 455±20?mW m-2 respectively. The present study reveals that electricity production depends on the distance between the electrodes.
